Sandbäcken
RED has developed Sandbäckens Retail Park in Umeå with 17,000 square meters of retail space. The property was completed at the end of 2022 and new additions to the shopping centre were BAUHAUS, Elgiganten and Rusta.
About the project
RED has acquired more than 47,000 square metres of land from Umeå Municipality at Sandbäcken Retail Park. The new retail park and the detailed plan have been developed in cooperation with the municipality. The property is strategically located on the Ersbodavägen road and has very good access. The retail park development comprises approx. 17,000 square metres of trading space, and RED has contracted BAUHAUS, Elgiganten and Rusta.
This means that BAUHAUS will now open their most northerly chain store with a full-scale product range. Elgiganten and Rusta are relocating their existing stores in Umeå to the new retail park.
RED started the construction in spring of 2021 and was completed at the end of 2022. The property is being constructed on a turnkey contract basis by Fastec Sverige AB and will be certified according to the Sweden Green Building Council’s Miljöbyggnad Silver certificate.
